durable power of attorney in Ohio
upon completion of the durable power of attorney document in Ohio, does the document need to be filed with any authority to be valid or is a copy of the document simply presented upon request of any party dealing with the person designated as the POA on an as needed basis?

The latter is correct. The institution or authority will ask to see the original and may keep a copy.
