My father is 92 years old and has dementia. He is still living alone at home however. He may have to go into assisted living at some point, however. My sister and I are in the process of transferring the title of his house out of his name and into our names. How long does the title of his house have to be out of his name before the value of the house can't be taken if he moves into assisted living?

To qualify for Medicaid the tranfer has to occur five years before your father applies for Medicaid.
You should consult with an elder law attorney before making this transfer.
