Legal Question in Elder Law in Ohio

Personal Lawsuit Against Power of Attorney

I had Power of Attorney for my aunt who died in a nursing home. Medicaid denied payment of the bill. The nursing home did not file against the state while in probate but not I am being personally sued. The Judge has recently ordered the case to mediation. I do not even have money to pay the attorney much less continue to pay for mediation and additional legal expenses. Is it appropriate to write to the Judge personally and ask for a ruling based on the law rather than go through mediation?

Re: Personal Lawsuit Against Power of Attorney

You can appear without representation and explain to the judge the circumstances. Take evidence with you (receipts, etc.) as well.
