Legal Question in Elder Law in Ohio

If my Step-Grandmother has no will, who is next of kin. My Maternal Grandfather remarried when I was young, but has now passed, my mother and all her siblings have passed, 8 Grandchildren remain. My Step-grandmother has no children of her own, and was only child. The only kin that she has left is a single 1st cousin and a few 2nd cousins. If she passes or is incapacitated, whom is next of kin to make decisions, or inherit the estate. Both of them worked in life, but my Grandfather was the primary earner if that makes a difference.

Without a will, your step-grandmother's heirs will be her cousins and possibly deceased cousin's decendents. Your grandmother can execute a will if she wants her estate to pass to other heirs. She can and should execute both healthcare and financial powers of attorney so someone is appointed to make decisions for her. If she would like assistance, I would be happy to help and can be contacted through my website at www.socrateslegal.com .
