Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Alimony Tax Issues

I was awarded 4800.00, per month alimony. My ex deposits 1556.00 into my checking acct. bi-weekly. Is the rest going for taxes ,? I know it is 'not' done through the CSPC to avoid that extra cost they take out. It seems excessive for taxes, if that is what I am paying out of the 4800.00. I really hope someone has the answer to this.Suddenly my attoeny is unreachable.

Re: Alimony Tax Issues

Alimony or spousal support is treated as income to you and a deduction for him in your case. Why is he taking out taxes in the first place. It will be up to you to declare the full 4800 per month at the end of the year and pay the taxes accordingly. Will he give you the money at the end of the year to pay the taxes. If he is giving you a hard time then he will have to pay through CSEA. My suggestion is to try your lawyer again and if he does not respond get a new atty.
