Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

bipolar disorder

would a parent being diagnosed with bipolar disorder be enough to change custody? Currently both parents share custody via a shared parenting plan. one parent

has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, is unable to work and has many other problems. can the sane parent take legal action? Maybe change custody and have the mentally ill parent only have weekend visits? would having bipolar be enough?? the kids obviously have depression and social problems and have been diagnosed by a counselor with depression. Children are 8 years old and 6 years old.

Re: bipolar disorder

It would depend on when you noticed the problem. If you knew she had problems when the shared parenting order was entered into then there was not a change in circumstances.

I would consult an attorney to confirm your position.
