Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Car possesion after dissolution

Hello, I got a dissolution earlier this year where I gave the wife the house and car. Both loans were in my name. The wife dont want the car now and the bank says Im still responsible for it. The court documents say she is responsible. The bank for the house says they cant come after me since I signed off on the house, which is alright since I didnt want the house. The wife never refinanced the car, or the house. Can the bank come after me for the car payment even though the court documents say Im not responsible?

Re: Car possesion after dissolution

You are still bound by the contract with the bank. Therefore, the bank has every right to come after you. However, you have every right to file contempt against your ex wife.

Sorry for the bad news!!!!!!!!!!!

In a word, yes. They come after you, and you can go after her in the domestic relations court for being in contempt of a court order. They don't have to acknowledge the court order.
