Name Change
I would like to know how I can legally change
my first name from --name removed-- to Shelly. I use Shelly for several purposes including my checking accounts. However, since my name isn't legally Shelly, I run into a few problems here and there and I would just assume change it to Shelly to avoid confusion. What can I do?

Check with the county Probate Court clerk. They generally have forms. You have to follow a procedure which includes publishing notice of the change. It should be fairly simple and not too expensive.
