Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Changing a childs last name

I currently live with my girlfriend and she has two kids from a previous marriage and their father will not allow me to adopt them. Can the kids legally change their last name to my last name?

HE won't allow you to adopt them? You're LIVING with the mother -- you're not MARRIED to the mother.I am not licensed in Ohio, and I won't offer any comment on Ohio law on the matter, but if you care enough to adopt the kids, I would suggest you care enough to MARRY the mom first and not to expose the kids to the two of you shacking up together.

Why would you want to do that? First, get married, then call back.
