Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
Charged with Domestic Violence
I have already been arraigned on DV charge, plead no contest, found guilty. In this case I hurt my wife when I blocked a punch or slap from her, not really sure which was coming. This resulted in a bruise on her wrist. In my opinion I was defending myself. My question is, can I at this point change my plea to not guilty and try to prove self-defense or I am now stuck to go through sentencing and serve my time?

Re: Charged with Domestic Violence
Unfortunately, unless you can prove that you did not know or understand the consequences of a no contest plea, your chances of getting your plea withdrawn are pretty slim. Never plead anything other than not guilty until you have seen the evidence against you.
