Child Custody after Divorce
How old does a child have to be before they can have a legal choice in which parent they want to live with?

The standard is always the best interest of the child, but the Court takes into consideration the opinion of an 11 or twelve year old child as instructive. Obviously, the older the child is the more emphasis the court will put on that opinion.
