Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

child custody

i'm trying to get full custody of my 3 year old son, his father is willing to give me full custody. I do believe child support is an issue and he may not want to pay. But i'm not sure how to go forth with anything. i just need a little advise on how to do this and how much it may cost.

Re: child custody

You need to file a custody complaint with the court. At that time, you will set forth information regarding your income and the father's income. Depending on visitation, the support figure is pretty standard. There is a mathematical formula used to determine the amount that should be paid based on both parents' incomes and visitation rights. Cost depends on how hard the father makes it. If he keeps dragging this out in an effort not to pay, that is a lot more costly than just going into court and having an order created. I'd be happy to discuss this in greater detail if you like.

Re: child custody

The courts won't allow a parent to use custody as a bargaining chip for getting out of the obligation to help support a child. If it is in your child's best interest for you to have full custody, the court will grant it. The court will also enforce child support payments.
