Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

child custody when there was no marriage?

I am a single mom and I had a child with my boyfriend. He has kicked me out of the house but wants to keep my son! What rights do I have and do I need to file for custody?

Absolutely you should file for custody in your local juvenile court. As the natural mother, your rights are paramount. You should receive some amount of temporary child support.

Yes!

Since you were never married to this guy, you will have to go to Juvenile Court-and you really need to get an attorney to do this for you before your (I presume EX) boyfriend decides to file something.

Whose name is on the birth certificate? Has this guy been legally determined to be the dad? If not, you may have the right to go to the police for help.

Does he own the house that he kicked you out of or were you just renting?

Lots of questions here. You really need to talk to directly to an attorney. Quickly. Call me if you have additional questions.

Good Luck!
