Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
child law
My ex and I have shared parenting. He is the custodial parents for school district reasons. If he has to relocated to another state; Can I stop him from taking the kids out of state? How hard of a fight would it be?

Re: child law
The question that you ask is one of the very important decisions that the domestic relations court has to struggle with. The key to the answer may lie in your statement that the father "has to" re-locate out of state. If Dad is forced to relocate in order to keep from losing his job, the Court will be more likely to allow him to take the kids with him. If he chooses to move for convenience or wants to move to Colorado because he likes to ski, then the Court will look at things a little differently!
That being said, the Court is still going to take a good hard look at whether the move is going to be in the best interests of the kids. You will have the right to object and the Court will listen. The age of the kids and what they want may play a part in the decision. How hard of a fight will it be? That is up to the parents. Not hard at all with some good mediating. Very hard if everyone locks into a hard stand!
