child left alone in father's custody

If a child is left alone for a period of time, in father's custody, can mom change custody to her.

Father's employment hours have changed, and child will left alone for a few hrs a day. Child is 9yrs old.

Generally, 9 years old is too young for a child to be left alone, but that fact, by itself, is not enough to compel a custody change. You should definitely file, and put all of the facts and circumstances before the court, particularly if some alternate arrangement is available, or if husband's employment change is temporary.
