Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
child protective services
3 year old wandered away from home (1 street over) Parents called 911 - child had been located quickly by another family. Police come to make report fearing that perhaps this had been a repeat occurrence. Police discovered that this is only incident ever for family and then police say that the call to CPS has been cancelled and no charges of negligence. Family has since been contacted by phone twice by CPS and CPS wants an in-home interview with parents. Should parents refuse entry? Should parents simply meet at CPS office. Need help!

I agree with Ms. Patete. Refusing entry won't likely turn out well. It may help to give the caseworker the officer's contact information to discuss the particulars.
Re: child protective services
Refusing entry would raise a red flag. It would be a defensive position. I suggest a phone conversation with the caseworker stating your concern. Ask her the particulars, how much time this will take, etc. She (or he) can explain why it is believed an investigation should be made. This is a courtesy to you. When the caseworker comes to the home, you can show her how it is your child wandered away and how you have corrected that. Meeting the caseworker at her office would not serve her purpose.
