Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Child support adjustment

I live in Michigan but my exhusband lives in Ohio. Our divorce was finalized in Ohio. I have lived in Michigan with our children since 1998. Do I need an Ohio attorney if I am considering asking for child support adjustment?

Also, which states' law would apply to the question of legal age at which my children can decide when/if they want to see / visit their dad?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Child support adjustment

Your case should probably be transferred to Michigan. If you do that, Michigan's child support laws will apply.

Re: Child support adjustment

If the Ohio court retains jurisdiction, that is where you must go, and that is the law that applies. You can ask a Michigan court to take jurisdiction, but the Ohio court must agree to transfer the case. You need an Ohio attorney for Ohio child support adjustment.
