child support

how long do you have to file child support, and how do you determine how much to pay?

I am not sure what your question is. In Ohio, parents are obligated to support their kids until they are 18 or graduate from High school, whichever is later. If the child is emancipated before that time then the obligation may stop.

If you are a parent seeking to have the other parent pay support, you can request this at any time up until the deadlines referred to in the previous paragraph have been met.
