Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

child support verses alimony

on my final decree of divorce that his attorney filed, I was to receive no spousal support, in return he asked for no child support. Now I have been informed that I am responsible for child support.

I have remarried but, my ex still has more income than my new husband and I make together.

Can he do this? May I go after alimony that was never used?

Thank-you, G.L. Criss

Re: child support verses alimony

Without access to your case file, it would not be possible to give you an adequate answer. I will say this-Alimony is not a guaranteed thing. It is also difficult to do away with child support. You really need to speak with the attorney who handled your side of the divorce or some other competent attorney who can set down with you and develop the facts of the case on a one on one basis. This would be impossible to do in a forum such as this.
