Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

child support and visitation

my 2 children's father is a Canadian citizen. He has not paid child support in 6 months. I know he will want to come and visit them next month. I know that support and visitation are two separate issues, but it doesn't seem fair. What can I do to get my support owed to me, and how can I deny visitation?

Re: child support and visitation

You are right about having to keep support and visitation separate in order not to burden the children. Their father is in contempt of a court order to pay child support. You can file a motion with the court to show cause for nonpayment. He'd be able to attend the hearing when he is present in the U.S., but this is not material.

You would need to go to court to handle this. I would definitely suggest that you retain an attorney. Feel free to contact me for a free consultation.
