Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Common Law Divorce

My wife and I have been seperated for about 8 years. I am interested to find out if there is a law similar to common law marriage which states a period of time you have been seperated and you are officially divorced by law without having to go through the court system.

Thanks

Re: Common Law Divorce

No, in order to end the marriage you need to go through a divorce.

Re: Common Law Divorce

Ohio stopped recognizing common-law marriage about ten years ago (unless it was formed prior to then.) Ohio has never recognized common-law divorce. You will have to secure a legally recognized divorce or dissolution.
