Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
contempt of court hearing
Q - Do I need a lawyer in a contempt of court hearing?
She paid off a credit card that I was ordered to pay in the divorce decree. There was no time limit stated in the decree to pay off the debts. I can show that I have made progress in paying off some of the debt during the last year. She got sick of the harrassing phone calls and paid it off without consulting me. Now she's charging me with contempt. The anount she paid is about $4000.00.
I don't have the money for an attorney ( if I had the money, I'd use it to continue to pay off the debts).

You probably should have a lawyer, so that person can represent you, and try to get some terms about paying this debt to your wife off over time.
