Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Contempt of Court/Shared Parenting

If the non-custodial parent does not take their children on the days granted them by the shared parenting plan (Easter, Memorial Day, etc) are they in contempt of court? They never seem to ''realize'' when they are entitled to their children. Is it then the custodial parent's responsibility to advise them?

Re: Contempt of Court/Shared Parenting

There might be grounds for modifying the shared parenting plan. If you're looking for the other parent to act more responsibly, you could suggest mediation through the court to change this circumstance.

Re: Contempt of Court/Shared Parenting

This is more the type of situation that would be used to argue for sole custody rather than contempt. It shows that the parent is not that interested in the children. Best regards, Edward DiCato
