Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

County of petition

Does a couple have to file dissolution papers in the county that they live in or can they file in another county in Ohio. We do not want to put our family through all the gossip.

You need to file in your own county. Keep in mind that a dissolution is quicker and more private than a divorce. The couple controls the level of civility when deciding to end a marriage. A dissolution tends to minimize the disagreements and disputes.
