Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Help me on my court ordered spousal support

My divorce was finalized on July 25, 2002. My ex-husband was court-ordered to pay a one time order for spousal support in the amount of $600 on or before August 8. He has not paid it despite many attempts from me. My lawyer has done nothing but send a letter asking for the money from his attorney. What is my next step? (My attorney is wanting to charge me another $600 to take him back to court for a contempt charge) but I dont feel its my place to have to pay it again. Please, please help me.

Unfortunately, your attorney is correct. Absolutely nothing in divorce court is self executing. If your husband is in contempt of the court's order, then you have to file a contempt motion, and point that out to the court. The court may order him to pay your attorney's fees, but that it not at all certain.
