Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
Custodial parent vs. Deadbeat parent
My ex is a deadbeat Dad. I have been dealing with child support services for the last year, with no help. My case worker tells me all I can do is file a contempt of court on him and wait for a court date. I did this three months ago and still have not been issued a court date. My question is - Why is it that he has every right to see our daughter yet he is not forced to keep a job and pay his support? He has been working under the table for the last six months and has not paid me a dime. I even tried to turn him in to the IRS with no luck. Currently he is around 4 thousand behind in support. Why is it that no matter who I talk to (case worker, attorney) there basically is nothing I can do? It is sooo unfair!

Re: Custodial parent vs. Deadbeat parent
Unfortunately visitation can not be predicated on paying child support. Eventualy the court will put him in jail for contempt. I would suggest contacting the county prosecutor and follow up with criminal non payment of support. This charge is a felony and it may get his attention.
