Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Our daughter is in an abusive marriage. She NEEDS a divorce. Her husband inherited his grandmothers house that was acquired after they were married. Does she have any rights to the house?

In Ohio, the general rule is that property that a spouse inherits during the term of the marriage remains separate rather than marital property. However, if it can be shown that a great deal of marital funds were put into the home during the marriage (improvements and so on) then a Court may elect to consider the house to have become marital property through transmutation of the asset.
