Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
divorce division of assets
My husband recently told me he may want a divorce. I am concerned about him taking my money that I had prior to the marriage. An inheritance and 401k. He has little money around $3000 that is not joint but I have about $40,000 that is not joint. He refused to sign a pre-nump and also said he wouldn't take any money if we did divorce. Is he legally entiled to any money from me or can an agreement be dtermined among the two of us to leave the marriage as we entered with regards only to dividing joint monies. He is also in the military, will this make any difference with military law? Under the military is he entiled to provide spousal support to me? Thank you

Re: divorce division of assets
First, if you two can work out an agreement on all issues, then you can have a single lawyer do it and it becomes a dissolution (much cheaper and quicker) instead of a divorce. Second, I don't believe the military has any jurisdiction in this matter, it is a state law matter and will be worked out in state court. If you two come to the point of needing a dissolution, I will be glad to quote you a flat fee for one.
