Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
Divorce , inheritance, and mortgage
I have received a large inheritance from my mother. My husbnad and I are in the process of buying a house, and plan to use my inheritance as a down payment. Should we ever get divorced, is there a way to legally protect MY investment? Thank you

As long as the down payment can be directly traced to the inheritance, you are protected. An inheritance is a nonmarital asset and will not be included in the division of assets upon divorce.
