Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

divorce and lawsuit award

My family and I were recently awarded a settlement in my fathers death. My question is, my husband and I have been on shakey grounds for a number of years. Now that I have been awarded a settlement (to be paid out in a few months). Does he have legal claim to any of that money in a divorce? And if something would happen to me before the disbursements, would any of the money go to him? Thank you

An heritance is not marital property in Ohio. The monies should be kept separate, and not commingled with, the marital assets, however.
