Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Divorce leverage?

I'm considering divorce and wondered : 1) can payoff of debt be made in lieu of spousal support?

2)Would wifes mental illness and personality disorder strongly support my position in considering custody for my 3 kids?

3) Wifes physical health is failing and I need to be involved in her transport/care. Is there a requirement of ''separation'' prior to divorce?

Also curious who are the most feared and most respected divorce attorneys in the greater Columbus area?

Re: Divorce leverage?

Monetary obligations can be spelled out in the separation agreement, so #1 can be done in that manner. You wife's mental and physical condition can effect her ability to care for the children, so they are definitely a factor in determining custody. There is no requirement for separation prior to divorce. Other reasons can be used as a grounds for divorce, such as incompatability.
