If I am the spouse filing for a divorce am I the one who has to pay for all of the expense?What if I can't afford it?Do I have any legal right to my spouses retirement?

If you are filing, you pay the filing fee. This is usually about $200.00. Your spouse will pay for all the expenses that they incur (such as deposition costs called by their attorney, other filing fees, etc.). You may have further expenses later in the proceeding, or not. You also need an attorney. Many attorney's will work with you on their fees, so that you will be able to make payments and maybe even get your spouse to pay your fees eventually.
