Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
I was divorced over a decade ago. She obtained the divorce, mailed me the papers, I signed and returned. I got final copies in the mail, but they have been lost years ago. I now want to get married but can't prove I am divorced. (I don't recall where she obtained the divorce (city/state). I haven't spoken to her in well over a decade - probably closer to 12 years. I have no idea where she lives or how to reach her. No children, we were only together a couple of months. We did not have any marital property. What is the most cost effective way for me to resolve this so I can move on?

The best way to get a copy of a divorce decree is to contact the County Clerk's office where she lived when you were divorced. If you are are not sure exactly, I would check online first at a few of the counties in the general area where she resided.
