domestic violence
Our 18 yr old daughter is pregnant and in an abusive relationship. We have talked to her about her and the baby's safety and given her the hotline numbers but she isn't leaving. Is there anything we can do legally to protect her while she is pregnant and to protect the baby.

Keep close contact with your daughter, and if you don't have access to professional counseling right now, call your county's health and human services. I believe your county's social service department has "pregnancy related services" and "adult protective services." Ask to speak to one of these social workers for options that you may be able to tell your daughter about. Unfortunately, some domestic violence, emotional or physical, needs to occur before the police or courts step in.
