Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
I am due to deliver a baby on January 1rst, 2010. I told the gentleman that got me pregnant that I was in fact pregnant and informed him of my due date. He's not a person that I speak to on a daily basis, and since finding out about the pregnancy has completely stopped communicating with me whatsoever. He has even gone so far as to change his cell phone numbers and move. Interestingly enough, I had a relationship with his parents, but no longer do.
Initially when he found out I was pregnant, he said he would be there for me and the baby and would not disappear. He's done the total opposite.
I've also come to find out, he's denying the child to some of the people around him, but just recently bought a house next to a childcare center and made sure he told mutual acquaintances of ours, that he made that move for his baby when he "gets custody of it."
I've decided that it would be best for me and best for the child to raise this baby alone without support or anything from him. I don't want him to be a part of this child's life whatsoever.
My question is this: If he does not contact me between now and the birth of the baby, and I don't inform him of the birth and he doesn't contact me whatsoever - say for instance several months to a few years goes by, can he come back after me at that time and try to establish paternity and fight me for custody? What are Ohio laws regarding that? Do I have a right to keep the child from him?

The father can either be acknowledged by placing his name on the child's birth certificate. Or, a DNA test can be ordered by the father through court to prove parentage This can happen at any time.
