Effects of disability on divorce proceedings

A friend filed for divorce on 4/2000. Was hurt at work and due to other health problems may not be able to return to work. Should he try for disability before the divorce is complete, or wait until after? And how could it affect the divorce either way?

The disability income will be the income used to determine child support as well as spousal support. Since the disability will in all likelyhood be less than your prior wage, it may be to your advantage to determine what your future income will be.
