Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

extramarital pregnancy

My husband had an affair with a 20 year old girl approx. 25 years his junior. She purposely became pregnant without his consent. Now she insists on having the baby. I have requested to take her for an abortion and or using adoption as an option. She insists on having the baby and keeping the baby. What are our options under Ohio law? Can she give this child our family's last name without consent as well? Will we be required to support her & this child even though we want no part of this? What can be done?

Re: extramarital pregnancy

Unfortunately, there is not much you can do. She can choose to have the baby. She can also sue for support after the baby is born. If she is agreeable, there are a couple of ways to legally waive support. It would be best to try and negotiate something with her now rather than wait until you recieve a notice of a child support hearing. If you wish to try negotiating now, I do these kinds of cases.

You cannot affect her maternal rights. She can choose to have the baby or not. Since the father is known, she can give the child his last name. She can also ask and receive child support.
