Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

my father past 6 yrs ago and I received an inheritance from him. I am now going through a dissolution and my husband feels that since we were married during his passing that I'm not entitled to the inheritance????? This is medina county ohio.

In Ohio, the general rule is that inheritance remains the separate property of the person who received it, and does not become marital property just because it was received during a period when the parties were married. There are some exceptions to this, as when the inheritance was invested into a marital asset such that it could not be traced and has lost its separate nature.
