Father's Rights

My uncle is going through court for custody of his daughter. Since his wife abandoned the family and was not heard of for three days, then has only came to get her child periodicly(joint-cust.), can she recieve full custody?

Generally in a custody hearing the two parents begin at equal footing. I have found that almost anything can happen and attorneys must be very careful handling these types of matters.
