Free lawyers?

Can i get a free lawyer appointed to me if i cant afford one?this would be for custody of my 5 year old.

Generally speaking, no. A domestic relations court or juvenile court will only appoint an attorney to you if you are interfering in the custody rights of your spouse, and there is a possible jail sentence involved.

It depends on whether or not the county in which you want to file custody provides court appointed attorneys for custody matters. I would suggest you contact the juvenile division of the common pleas court for your county and ask a clerk whether court appointed attorneys are available to represent people in custody matters. Keep in mind there is a qualifying process to obtain court appointed counsel which is primarily based on your income level.
