Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

My friend is separated from his wife. She made him leave their home. He wants shared parenting after the divorce. He works 3 days then he\'s off for 3 days and would like to have their son on his 3 days off. The mother will not let the boy (who is 2 years old) spend the night with his father. So, she says that she will not agree to shared parenting because their son has never spent the night alone with his father. She has also taken the boy out of state twice since they\'ve been separated. My question is - is there any legal action he could take at this point - such as file a complaint with local law enforcement that she is keeping his son from him and taking him out of state without his permission? Would filing a complaint help him in the divorce process when it comes to shared parenting? Would it prove that he wishes to see his son? Or should he wait until the divorce to voice his opinion/concern?

Has your friend filed for divorced? Since there are children involved normally this type of situation is handled by the divorce.
