grandparents rights Ohio

What visiting rights do we have for our granddaughter? Our daughter died and our son-in-law has remarried and we want to see our granddaughter. Please help us with this situation.

Re: grandparents rights Ohio

Ohio law allows grandparent visitation in your situation. If the father will not voluntarily set something up you will have to go to the common pleas Court in the County where the child resides and file an action requesting that the Court order that you be allowed to visit. The Court should order that visits be allowed unless it is shown that it would not be in the child's best interest.

The fact that the father has remarried should not prohibit the visits.

This is a difficult situation. It is hard enough to deal with the loss of your daughter. I am sure being able to visit with your granddaughter would be good for her and you.

If you have additional questions feel free to give me a call. No charge or obligation for the call.

Good Luck
