What are the ground rules for gifts, if it was bought the person do they have to return it apon request?

In Ohio, if you give something to someone with a present donative intent (meaning that at the time you gave it to them, you were giving it to them forever and weren't expecting to get it back, then it becomes that person's property and you cannot rescind the gift.

If the item is a title item like a car and the title was never signed over, or if it was an interest in land that should have been recorded, then there may be some exceptions there, but if it is merely an item of personal property and you gave it away, then it is the recipient's property now and cannot be taken back without the recipient's consent.
