Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

I am trying to get guardianship of a minor in Ohio without parental consent. A 17 year old friend of my daughter's would like me to be her guardian until she turns 18. Her mother is incarcerated for substance abuse issues which have gone on for years. Her father is incarcerated in Florida and has had no contact with this child in 7 years. She has an aunt and grandmother who want guardianship, but with whom she has had serious issues. I have limited funds, but would like to help this child finish her high school education without having to deal with the abusive environment found at her grandmother's home. Her mother will not sign over guardianship to me. Do I have any options?

You can apply for guardianship of a minor based on these facts. There would be a hearing where all the interested parties would present their case. It is very difficult to overcome family relations. I really think you should consult an attorney.
