Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Getting a Hearing Date

I filed to establish a support order & modify parenting in 07/02. Everything was going fine until a guardian ad litem was appointed. He didn't do his job in a timely manner, and, in 12/02 he asked for a continuance on my case. Now it's 5/03 and I'm still waiting for the 1st hearing in the support portion and something (anything!) to happen with the parenting modification. Constantly calling my attorney and the guardian ad litem has gotten me nowhere. What can I do to get my case moving again? Am I allowed to contact the court directly and try to get a hearing date set up myself?

Re: Getting a Hearing Date

You might want to go to the Cuyhoga County website, and check the docket yourself to see if some sort of status conference or hearing is already scheduled. Otherwise, you can ask you attorney to file for a status conference with the magistrate.
