Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Hubby is filling for a divorce in ohio but im in australia

hi,just wanted to know where i stand if my husband of three years wants to file for a divorce. i lived in ohio with him until mid march this year when he said he wanted me out!i had just lost my job so i did not have a way of supporting myself unless i came back to australia where i now have to live with my parents.And payback my mother my airfare etc and i have no vechile som i'm find it difficult to get work.Before getting married i was set up finacially etc in australia and when i moved i had to sell everything.my husband told me when i left ohio not to sell any of our stuff because he just wanted a break and wanted me to return in 3mths or so.but now he has changed his mind.he is the one filling for divorce etc will he have to pay me some kind of alimony even tho i have moved back to australia?also he has money in his 401k stocks etc and other things we also bought things together what will happen to all of that?

You can also file in Australia if you wish in an attempt to try and invoke the Australian law, in which case you would certainly be enititled to a share of the assets. However if he has already filed in Ohio, you might struggle to convince a Court in Australia that there is any reason why proceedings would be better of proceeding here as opposed to there. You might do better to consult a lawyer in Ohio and ascertain what your entitlements would be in that State as soon as possible.
