Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

My ex husband and I agreed that our son would stay with him after the divorce so he got custody of him however a few years back he was convicted of sexual battery and he is a convicted sex offender and I need to know is he supose to be around my son? I also want to know what steps can I take to get him back?
