Illegal child support

Is it illegal to keep child support money if the child does not live with you, but you have custody? My child lives with me & has for 6 months, but i pay child support cause my ex has custody. My ex has not talked to, seen or contributed in any way of my child since she has been with me. She does not get any of the support money & hasn't in 6 months. The ex keeps it. What can i do about this?

Immediately file a motion for custody based on a change in circumstances. You cannot stop paying without a court order.
