Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Inheretance

I will be married for 15 yrs come 8/27/03 but seperated from my husband for just under 3 yrs. about 3 yrs. ago. We decided to give another go at it and got back together. The marriage is not working again and I recently lost my Mother and will receive a substanical inheretance, can this man take 1/2? I have supported my self throughout our marrage and we run on seperate bank accounts, I do not and have never known what he has money wise. We have never in the history of being together shared any bank accounts. We own nothing as a couple. Please help!

As long as you are able to maintain a separate identity on any inheritance proceeds that you receive, it is not likely that such property will be divided in a divorce proceeding. The only thing he would be entitled to would be anything he might get by the terms of the will. If you have not thought of an attorney for divorce, I would be available to help.
