Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Joint Bills and home furnishings

I left my wife with ALL the home furnishings which would cost me about atleast $2000 to replace. She now wants me to pay for half of the bills. The bills do have both our names on them, but it is a debt consolidation firm that is 90% her credit cards that she accumulated before we were togehter. My question is in the court of law would I be held responsible for half those bills, or would I be able to push to call it even because I bit the bullet and will nw need to buy all new home furnishings wich accumulates to more than her CC bills?

Re: Joint Bills and home furnishings

It appears as if the debt consolidation is a premarital debt and could be pushed on her alone. As to the remaining items, place all assets and liabilities into a pot and divide in half. Do the math and see where that takes you.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
